Silmo Paris 2025: A Glimpse Into the Future of Eyewear

From September 26 to 29, Paris once again became the global capital of eyewear as SILMO Paris 2025 brought together designers, innovators, and optical professionals from around the world. This year’s edition was buzzing with new ideas, bold designs, and a clear focus on the future of vision care and eyewear fashion.


One of the highlights was the debut of the Tech Village, a dedicated space for innovation. Over 20 exhibitors showcased advances in AI-driven tools, smart eyewear, and connected devices, offering a glimpse of how digital technology is reshaping the industry. Augmented reality applications for retail and seamlessly integrated smart glasses demonstrated just how far innovation has come.


Creativity took center stage with the Optical Design Contest, themed “Superhero Glasses.” Designers and students were challenged to reimagine eyewear as tools of empowerment. Standout entries included The Inuit Glasses by Yasmin Kaufman, blending heritage with modern materials, and The Sensory Glasses by Gaia Malantuono, designed for inclusivity and neurodiverse users. The contest highlighted how eyewear can be both functional and deeply meaningful.


Awards also celebrated excellence in design and clinical practice. The SILMO d’Or Awards recognized brands pushing the boundaries of style and technology, while the International Optician of the Year Award honored professionals making a global impact in innovation and service.


Sustainability remained a key theme, with brands embracing recycled materials, eco-friendly packaging, and ethical sourcing. The SILMO Next innovation hub offered workshops and showcases focused on reducing the industry’s environmental footprint without sacrificing style or quality.


The Trends Forum gave a peek into the future of eyewear fashion, featuring bold geometric frames, gradient lens effects, and a mix of opaque and translucent materials. Live demonstrations by France’s Best Craftsmen reminded attendees of the artistry still at the heart of eyewear making.


With hundreds of exhibitors from around the world, SILMO Paris continues to be a dynamic stage where the future of eyewear comes into focus. From cutting-edge technology to creative, sustainable design, the show highlighted an industry that is smarter, more inventive, and more responsible than ever.
