From September 26 to 29, 2025, Paris Nord Villepinte will once again come alive as SILMO Paris welcomes the global eyewear community. With over 900 exhibitors, 1,500 brands, and 32,000 professionals filling 75,000 square metres, it’s far more than a trade show—it’s where the future of optics takes shape.
At the heart of it all is SILMO Next, a space dedicated to forward-thinking concepts where AI-powered eyewear, smart materials, and connected optical solutions are on display. Curated by an expert committee, this showcase offers a glimpse into what’s next for the industry. Outside the fair, recent breakthroughs from events like CES 2025 are already pushing boundaries, with ultra-light AR glasses weighing just 49 grams, AI-equipped sunglasses with liquid crystal lenses, and new assistive technologies that expand accessibility for people with vision loss.
Sustainability is also front and centre, with brands experimenting with bio-based acetates made from castor oil and introducing more digital-first retail experiences like social and virtual try-ons. The show’s prestigious awards return as well, celebrating excellence through the SILMO d’Or Awards, the Optical Design Contest, the Responsible Company Award, and the International Optician of the Year title. These honours recognise innovation, craftsmanship, and social responsibility across the eyewear world.
Even with all this forward momentum, SILMO continues to honour its heritage. Visitors can experience the artistry of French eyewear through live demonstrations by “Meilleurs Ouvriers de France” and see historical pieces from the Oyonnax and Morez museums, offering a reminder of the craftsmanship and tradition that still shape the industry today.
For us at Foundation Eyewear, last year’s event left us buzzing with ideas—AI-smart lenses, 3D-printed frames, and AR-powered retail tools all had us thinking about how to better serve our customers. This year, we’re especially eager to explore how new technologies like the Ally Solos smart glasses are bringing inclusivity and accessibility to the forefront, proving that innovation can also be deeply meaningful.
SILMO 2025 is set to be an inspiring blend of creativity, technology, and tradition, and we can’t wait to bring back ideas, products, and stories that will benefit our customers here in Southwestern Ontario. We’ll be sharing updates straight from the showroom floor, and we look forward to seeing how these innovations will shape the future of eyewear.
